Whats My Motivation

I’d like to share with you today the rough beginnings of a thought that has been rolling around inside my head the last week…

I think we’ve all had those days that have lead us to ask these questions of ourselves: what am i doing? where am i going? Why am i putting myself through this?..

… is today is one of those days? maybe for you its everyday..

What am i doing? this is the one i find myself asking most… along with “Why the heck am i doing this?”.. what is my motivation for getting up, going to work, coming home, sleeping, then doing it all again? where is my life taking me.. do i even care anymore? these are all good questions to ask yourself from time to time, but i don’t believe they have to stay unanswered. ;

I think a big key to discovering what will keep you going day after day, is to find out what makes you happy, and more over, you need to work out where your eternity is. Is it in your family, is it in your friends, is it in your job, or your hobby. Are you living your life from weekend to weekend. Are you like many Christians who want to say god is their motivation, not because he is, but because that’s what they think is the right answer..

So many times i have found myself wandering, going places and doing things just because i’m supposed to. You know the kind of day where you got to work and it just keeps going, because you have no motivation. catching up with friends, but just feeling like you wanna go home, and even going to church, entering this building and standing there, listening, but not involving, hearing but not connecting.

I’d like to challenge you to look at yourself for a moment. And ask yourself these questions..

what?.. Why?..

while i was pondering, the Lyrics from the song “shine” by the newsboys came into my head.. especially this part:

“the truth is in
the proof is when you hear your heart start asking
What’s my motivation?

We are called by Jesus christ the word of god, to be the light that shines never ceasing in the world, bringing his love, and understanding that that love is in us and for us. In John 1:4-5 it says:

⁴The Word gave life to everything that was created,
and his life brought light to everyone.

⁵The light shines in the darkness,
and the darkness can never extinguish it

Thats it… My Motivation… I wanna be the Light!..

To be completely honest i don’t know your answers to these questions, because there is no definitive set of answers. But i do believe true happiness lies in all of these things, and in saying that, i believe there is no true happiness without finding your eternity in Jesus.

I want to make this my motivation, i want my goal to be to shine the light and the love of god in everything that i do, as i go about my life, as i love my family and friends, as i work my job, and in the the day to day.

Indeed, i wanna shine so they wonder what i’ve got!
