Building the House

Last year my friend Ps. Ben Windle wrote a ;post on his blog ;regarding the house of god, or “the church”, and its importance to him… and so as i was pondering on what the house of GOD means to me, something he said got me got me thinking further….
To quote Ben:
“Here’s a great principle to live by: If you build God’s house, he will build your house (life).”
I wanna focus on what i believe to be Four of the most important Principles of building the house; Serving, Sowing, Submitting, and seeking.
I believe that serving in the house of god is something for us all, not just the pastors and the worship leaders, because we are all called to build the kingdom of god. We were all commissioned to go out into the world and make disciples. Now I’m not saying we all have to be out there everyday preaching, or at church at 6 am setting up speakers, but in whatever small way you can, serve in the house of god! Because no matter how small your part “GOD sees that!”
God is faithful isn’t he? (He is)… He will come through with his promises; time and time again we read in the bible that we must be faithful servants in the house of the lord. God says in Galatians 6 that what you reap will be what you sow, if you serve god faithfully you will see favour in your life. This is something that I think we all forget so often. When we are Sowing into god’s house, we are sowing into our own eternity. When we bring him praise, when we help others we see in need, and even when we tithe, “GOD sees that!”
It is amazingly important to give back to god what he first gave to us. He doesnt require us to tithe because he needs the money, not because he cant provide for the work of the church, but because it is an act humility and submission, which leads us to our next principle.
I believe that one of the most important parts of being faithful to god, and serving in his house, is learning to submit to, and respect those who he has placed above us… whether we agree with them or not. I am speaking these words over my life as much as I am over anyone else; I have been shocking with this. I have mostly been good at the act of submission, but my heart has not been a willing participant. Being faithful to God Means being consistent, and serving and submitting with a cheerful heart, and not just a smile on our face. So when we Submit, “GOD sees that!”
Undoubtedly one of the most important parts of not only building the house, but also of christian life is Prayer, the act of seeking GOD. when we join together corporately, or even alone on our own bedroom floor, lifting up the name of jesus, bringing our pleas and requests, and thanking him, that builds that house. we are to be a people of united prayer. For real, when we humble ourselves to him “GOD sees that!”
When i look to the word to sum up how our character should be, i look to Micah 6:8
“8He has showed you, O man, what is good.
And what does the LORD require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy
and to walk humbly with your God.”
God asks us to do the right thing, to follow him, and to lay all that is not of him at the foot of the cross.
Its true, If you build God’s house, he will build your house!
